Laurel is an incorporated city in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States, located midway between Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, DC.

Though the incorporated portion is located in Prince George's County, unincorporated parts of three other counties Anne Arundel, Howard, and Montgomery are adjacent to the city limits and are also considered as part of the community. The postal code of nearby Montpelier is also referred to as "Laurel," though it is not within the city limits; the same is true for Scaggsville and Whiskey Bottom in Howard County.

The population of the Laurel city limits was 19,960 at the 2000 census.

Laurel is home to a horse racetrack, Laurel Racecourse, which is actually in Anne Arundel County, and was also the home of an automobile racetrack and a horse trotter track, decades ago. The city is close to Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory, Fort Meade Army base and the National Security Agency, NSA. Laurel is also home to a historic district, including its Main Street.
